What makes a good leader?
We talked about "integrity" in our session. What makes the wholness? Any piece of it missing can't make it a wholness? Charisma is only part of it; drive, passion, vision are admired qualities as well. However when it comes to the basic, what really matters is the belief. What's that belief, where the trust will raise?

Comments:
Have been working in the same field for years, frankly speaking, a so-called “good leader” is rare and difficult to find. I was a bit of surprised to read that there are so many related articles about the topic of“how to be a good leader” on the internet after the class this week. “Good leaders are made, not born. While some people have more innate potential to lead than others, all you need is the desire and willpower to become an effective leader,” says Lester Levy, CEO of Excelerator (New Zealand Leadership Institute) at the University of Auckland Business School. He thought that natural potential is the least important elements that contribute to leadership. There are some certain steps to learn to be a good leader; I am glad to share you the “path” that I just read,

1. Goals are the means to use to reach your dreams. Do not make your goals unrealistic.

2. Use small successes to generate larger ones.

3. Keep pushing yourself to allow you to reach your full potential. There is a price to pay to be successful, and that price is hard work. Do not be afraid of it.

4. Surround yourself with positive people and block out all the negative ones you come in contact with.

5. Good habits should be second nature.

6. Make sure that every day you are in control. Be focused and don't put things off until tomorrow. It can be a bad habit.

7. Communicating is a powerful force, and that doesn't mean you should be doing all the talking. You must listen.

8. How you relate to people in your business is extremely important. Treat them with respect.

9. A good leader will learn from others. Do not allow your ego stop you from seeking advice from people that have been there before you. Learn from their mistakes.

10. Pressure and stress are two different animals. Pressure makes a person more focused. Stress robs you of it and harms your performance.

11. Anyone can be great for a short time, but to be successful over the duration of your life, you must be persistent. The essence of persistence is not to quit. Take it out of your vocabulary.

12. Keep striving for excellence.

Good luck to you all, to learn to be a good leader, or, to work with a good leader.

Have a nice week!

I'm of the opinion that a good leader has to be a good learner and a good listener. An optimistic leader will give the positive attitude and happy feeling to his colleagues or co-workers.

Despite the fact that I am not competent in business and not a fan of any party or pop star either, I have to admit that the influence from superstars and celebrities' leadership is beyond my imagination.

Celebrities lead the popular fashion, the way people dress even the products people buy. They have the ability to launch a movement successfully that the average person can't. That is the reason why celebrities are invited by charitable organizations to represent them to be their Good-will Ambassador to encourage people to help victims in disaster area. This is a positive aspect to apply the strong charisma of the leadership to creat public welfare.

However, some mean politicians take advantage of their position and charisma to collect individual wealth. They play favorites and don't practice what they have promised. They take respective benefit for granted and never lift a finger to ease the burden on voters. Everything they do is for show.

Those who are in good leadership possess some admired qualities to attract and impress people like a magnet. They are people of integrity. They are proactive, objective, optimistic, enthusiastic and extrovert to give their disciples and believers a prosperous vision in the future.

The person whom I admire and respect have distinguished manner. They take strict discipline with profound mind to inspire, motivate, and improve me a lot.
I think great person must have lots of effort in private to make everybody trust them and follow them desperately.

P.S.: I enjoyed your latest lecture very much. I was completely inspired and motivated in the whole course till the bells pealing for the class dismissed. For your interpreting a new vocabulary and a new technical term in English thoroughly, I had great havest after your class. I like you and thank you.

To be a good leader, you need to have many good advantages in some aspects. No doubtedly,a good leader should be considerate, too. And I think he is willing to be the first one to go when there is any trouble that no one wants to handle it or can conquer it. Besides, he is usually respected by others for his justice and moral. That's my opinion.

I think a good leader is made with many aspects. It includes the ability of communication, authorisation, vision, and inspiring. If all the ability can be seen on the leader, the subordinates will trust the leader. The belief is so called cohesion. The subordinates and the leader trust each other. So I think chrisma will appear on the good leader naturally if he/she can have the abilities talked above.

This is great!
Love you all can dig more from the internet and sharing with us! Sharing is the best experience! Agree!?

1: What makes a good leader?
I am not clear very much what the condition that a good leader needs are, perhaps just mentioned as textbook. Flair, Charisma, Visionay, Dynamism or Drive. But I think the most important is a good leader will make people fell that they are at the very heat of things, not at the periphery.

2: Integrity
Integrity is worth nothing, might be you can see it in other places, but not in Business.
The best policy is to do the things you should do well, and to seek the profits for compny and yourself.

As the description in our textbook, a good leader has charisma, vision, drive, dynamism and energy. However, when it comes to the basic, “integrity” is the most essential element which a good leader should possess. In other words, a good leader must have the strength and honesty of character or moral principle. It can make his followers trust in him; even establish a belief in him. In conclusion, people are more educated than before; they won’t adore their leaders blindly and will examine him all the time. Drive, passion, vision, and even charisma are just beneficial to be a good leader; the essentiality is “integrity”.

Leaders are made rather than born. Why is that? Because this world is changing all the time, almost nothing stays the same forever, If the leader can't be aware of the trend, then he or she is not able to lead others.Or I would rather say that some people may be born naturally as a leader, but they still need to cultivate themselves to meet the certain standard.A good leader is also a good communicator. He or she has to listen to the followers and motivate their inspiration in order to form a good team.

I think the "belief" and the "trust" are founded on a person's behavior and characters.
Mr. Mead, the management "Guru of Guru" based in being the chairman of the board of MIT, emphasizes repeadly that honesty, trust, selflessness, loyalty and moral are the most important characters for a good leader. He further indicates clearly that "I would rather choose a person to be a leader who owning the characters above than a person who has more experiences but none of the characters above."
A born leader perhaps less than 10% of us. However, adequate inspiration may can cultivate a person's leadership. Basically, throwing out the leadership, do the characters above exactly belong to a human being, a common person?!
Mr. Mead had ever trained by the strict discipline at West Point. Even he could realize that obedience is not the whole thing but "trust" and "integrity" are the crucial for a leader.
Actually, that is also the root of being a human, isn't it!

I have learned a lot from my boss. A good leader should be able to listen to employees' opinions and give them clear goals. Let employees feel them belong to the company. If a leader can build a relationship with employees just as friends, I believe employees will be glad to share weal and woe with the company.
